March Class News

We can’t wait to welcome spring and we hope the snow stays away! We began the month with our Read-Across-America celebrations and activities.  This month we will also begin new units in Reader’s and Writer’s Workshops and will learn about Dr. Seuss.

Math- We continue to practice our addition and subtraction math facts.  Students will begin to skip count by 2s and practice measurement.  Students will also work with 3D and 2D shapes.

Reader’s Workshop- The children will begin a non-fiction reading unit in which they learn about their world by reading for information.

Writer’s Workshop- Students will begin writing “how-to” books.  They will be able to teach others how to complete activities with step-by-step directions.

Science/Social Studies – This month we will celebrate Dr. Seuss and learn about his life.  We will learn about spring and the signs of spring. We will also explore movement, force, and measurement in science.
