We have just finished our Writing for Readers unit in writing. We hope you enjoyed the stories that were sent home! We are beginning a new unit...Realistic Fiction! We will study several mentor texts to help us develop our stories.

Reading
We are full swing into our reader's workshop and we are working very hard on becoming independent readers. Our new unit this month focuses on characters. We will spend time studying and learning more about our characters as well getting  to know them by paying attention to the words and pictures and thinking deeply about what our characters thinking.

We will be using post-it notes to jot down ideas, predictions, noticing and wanderings about the characters in our books.

We are also reading many different versions of the Gingerbread Man. This lends to activities that include comparing and contrasting the books as well as the gingerbread characters. We will also make our very own Gingerbread Man and Girl!
